A Junior Draughtsperson and Procurement Clerk, supports the design team by creating technical drawings and plans for various projects, primarily using CAD software. They interpret specifications, sketches to ensure that design details align with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and modify detailed drawings based on the specifications provided by senior draughtspersons.
  • Develop CAD (Computer-Aided Design) models, layouts, and schematics for various projects
  • Update and revise drawings as required to reflect design changes, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Collaborate with other team members to address any design issues or discrepancies.
  • Maintain project documentation, ensuring all drawings and models are up-to-date and properly archived.
  • Assist in preparing material lists and specifications based on the technical drawings.
  • Perform quality checks on designs to ensure adherence to standards and project requirements.
  • Request and evaluate quotes to identify the best value for products or services.
  • Coordinate with various departments to understand their purchasing needs and align procurement activities.

Quantity Surveying duties:

  • Create Bill of Quantities (BOQ) documents based on drawings, plans and specifications
  • Ensure actual quantities of materials used on site are in line with the approved plan
  • Consult with the construction and finishing team to ensure that all cost items in the BOQ are considered and accurate.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in CAD software (such as AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Understanding of design standards, technical drawings, and engineering principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance standards.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Basic understanding of procurement processes and principles.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an intern or assistant in a draughting or design role is often preferred.
  • Familiarity with design and visualization tools is advantageous.
