Junior Accountant
Full Time Vacancy

The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the finance department with daily accounting tasks, ensuring that financial records are accurate, complete, and maintained in line with internal procedures. This role involves assisting in bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT preparation, and the maintenance of financial documentation. The Junior Accountant works under the guidance of senior finance staff and contributes to the effective functioning of the accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out daily accounting duties including the compilation of documentation and posting transactions in a timely manner
- Support the team in the creation of monthly financial reports
- Assist in developing accounting procedures and analyse financial records
- Support in preparing VAT Returns and related tasks and ensure deadlines are met
- Adhere to internal procedures for the internal accounts
- Follow up on payments as required
- Assist in identifying and resolving issues that arise in the accounting process
- Assist in preparation of issuing of invoices, bills and account statements or other financial related documents according to established procedures
- Carry out bank and other balance sheet accounts reconciliations on a regular basis
- Generate ideas to come up with effective workflow of bookkeeping department and overall accounting processes
- Assist in presenting reports and status progress update to direct superior
- Perform any other necessary duties as instructed by the direct superior
- Attend relevant training and workshops to increase own knowledge

- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Sage Software, and other accounting tools
Preferred work experience and background
- AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting is required. Being part-qualified in ACCA will be considered an advantage.
- Prior experience in a similar role within Construction, Leisure and Hospitality Industry
Work Environment: Office-based in St. Julian’s
